Session Speaker: David Gordon

Senior Associate Director, MIT Office of Foundation Relations

David Gordon is a Senior Associate Director of Foundation Relations at MIT. Since 2002, he has led a team that helps faculty get major grants, worked with MIT leadership on special projects, and managed relationships with a portfolio of leading national foundations.

Before joining MIT, David had been the Senior Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Brandeis University and had held several fundraising, public policy research, and non-profit management positions in or near Boston. In all, he has more than 20 years of experience working with private foundations and has played a direct role in raising over $200 million in grants during that time.

In the community, David has taught a semester-long continuing education course at UMass/Boston since 2009 on best practices in seeking grants. In addition, as an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and Associated Grantmakers of Massachusetts (AGM), he has led frequent trainings over the years and has spoken about foundation relations work at more than a dozen conferences and workshops.

A lifelong Boston-area resident, David is a graduate of the Boston Public Schools, Harvard College (History), and the Harvard Graduate School of Education (Administration, Planning, and Social Policy).
